Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16
The Music Ministry at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is under the direction of Jody Richter. Jody is the organist and choir director of the parish. We offer various opportunities for parishioners to be involved in our music program.
Cantors: Cantors lead the congregation in hymn singing at the weekend
Masses and other various Masses.
Adult Choir: Anyone high school age and up, who can sing, is welcome to join the Adult Choir. It is not necessary to read music to be in the choir. Our rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 from September until mid-June. The Adult Choir usually sings one Sunday a month as well as most principal liturgical celebrations.
Junior Choir: The Junior Choir is comprised of children in grades 2 through 8 who are parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish and/or who are students of St. Teresa of Calcutta School. Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings from 11:15 to Noon. The Junior Choir sings at various Masses throughout the year. Rehearsals are not held weekly year-round. They are held on 3 or 4 Sundays prior to the scheduled Masses.
Choral Ensemble: The Choral Ensemble is made up of 10-12 members who sing for various weekend Masses. It is preferable that members of this group can read music. The schedule for the Ensemble varies to accommodate the group.
First Friday Group: The First Friday Group is a contemporary guitar ensemble that sings for the 7:00 PM Mass on First Fridays. Rehearsal times vary to accomodate the group.
Requiem Choir: The Requiem Choir is made up of singers who are available in the mornings or early afternoons to sing for parish funerals. Rehearsals are held September through June on the first Wednesday of the month from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
School Choir: Students of St. Teresa of Calcutta School in grades 2 and 3 are invited to participate in the School Choir.
The School Choir rehearses on Tuesdays after school from 2:45 until 3:45.
Instrumentalists: Anyone who plays a musical instrument is invited to share their talents either as a soloist or with an ensemble. This includes woodwind, brass, and string instrumentalists as well as guitarists & keyboard players. Rehearsal times vary depending on the scheduled Masses.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with
the lyre and the sound of melody! With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!
Psalm 98:4-6
